Maitre Victor Gantsevich

Maitre Victor Gantsevich has been actively involved in sports activities since 1970, participating in fencing competitions of different levels, including the USSR National Championships. For his outstanding achievements as an athlete and coach, Maitre Gantsevich has been awarded numerous awards, diplomas and certificates. He was qualified as Master of Sports in Fencing (the highest level in the former USSR).

In 1979, Gantsevich graduated from the Institute of Physical Education and Sports of the City of Kiev, Ukraine, qualifying as a Teacher and Instructor of Physical Education. Since that time, he has completed upgrading courses and obtained certificates that have made him eligible to perform as a Fencing Judge at the National level.

Gantsevich has extensive coaching experience at various levels, training athletes of different age groups. Many of Gantsevich's students have won national championships - including the USSR, Ukrainian, Israeli and Canadian National Fencing Championships, as well as other top level competitions.

After moving to Israel from Ukraine, Gantsevich was employed by "Matknas" Sports Club to train Israeli fencers. During late 1992 and 1993,   Gantsevich worked with a strong team of Israeli fencers who, with Gantsevich as their coach, achieved first place at the "Team Fencing Competitions of Israel" in 1993. In 1994 this Fencing Team was selected to represent Israel in the "Cup of Europe" - a top level fencing competition in Germany.

In recognition of his outstanding skills, Gantsevich has been appointed to serve in many senior coaching roles, including Head Coach of the Junior National Fencing Team of the Ukrainian SSR, Coach of the USSR Junior Fencing Team, and Assistant Coach for Team Canada at the 2005 World Championships in Linz, Austria.

Gantsevich's most recent fencing endeavor is serving as Founder and Head Coach of Dynamo Fencing Club in Richmond, British Columbia. Dynamo has already become highly active on the local fencing scene. Gantsevich currently teaches several beginner classes, in addition to instructing Dynamo's top-level athletes, and preparing them for local, national, and international competition. Victor is committed to continuing to improve fencing and fencers in Vancouver and throughout Canada.
